Alpha Five includes all the tools you need to develop and test web based applications. This includes a local PC based internet server to allow testing of your application within a browser.

When it comes to publishing your database to the Internet you will need the Alpha Five Web Application Server (WAS)

WAS runs as a service in the system tray of a Windows NT or Windows 2003 server providing a fast multi-threaded server platform for your internet application. WAS will run with most internet browsers since it delivers your Alpha Five application as standard HTML and JavaScript. There are no proprietary add-in applets required to run Alpha Five applications so your audience is quite simply, anybody with a web browser.

Best of all WAS is a self-standing web server application which will run on any Windows XP or Windows 2003 server without the need for additional web service technologies such as Internet Information Server(IIS), Apache etc or database servers such as Microsoft SQL Server (MS-SQL) or MY-SQL. Due to the multi-threading technology your WAP server PC does not need to be a dedicated PC - it can be your own workstation. For applications servicing many simultaneous users we do however recommend a dedicated server

WAS Includes the Alpha Five database engine, so there is no additional Database (such as MS-SQL) to purchase. If you prefer to use MS-SQL, MY-SQL, Oracle or even access as your server database then all you need to do is change your data source and query method and the client/server capabilities of WAS and Alpha Five will do the rest.

Unlike other internet servers WAS has a built in email client and includes the Alpha Five report engine to allow you to produce stunning reports to PDF, the PDF Viewer or direct to email.
